In addition to the jump starting ability, it also has an air compressor, which is nice for inflating my bike tires. It's super slow, but it works in a pinch when I don't have access to a real air compressor.

Seems to hold a charge a while too. I bought my Dad one and it's great around the farm. His tractors don't always start right up in the winter, so he can take it along and boost them without getting the battery charger out.

QFT! convenient and easy to use!

This is not hard. Walk into the local auto parts store (no, they do not deal exclusively in ricer parts, they useful stuff in there too). Find a cheap pair of jumper cables. Buy. Much less hassle than researching online.

My jumper cables are 25' made from (IIRC) #0 welding lead, with soldered clamps. I've used them for 12v heavy duty systems, as well as 24 volt systems, and they never get warm, unlike many smaller cables will even on a small car jump.

These are the cables I have. 20' 4 gauge 500 amp power rating. Never have they failed to start a car right after clamping them onto the dead car's battery.

Hmm, that pic is funny...each cable only has ONE END...is this something like a mobius strip? ;)

That looks like the pair I got from sears, though I think I paid less.

My battery is under by back seat, so the extra length helps if I ever need a jump. For normal cars it means you dont ahve to pull the cars together nose to nose to be able to jump them.

I have a set that was $3.99 at Walmart. I have used them multiple times and let others borrow them at truck stops and they always do the trick.

You hang out at truck stops?

I make numerous road trips, and travel A LOT from San Antonio to Austin to see my parents. :)

You spend the night at a truck stop during a 1 hour drive?

I'm contemplating making some 1/0g jumper cables out of some Monster Cable 1/0g power wire I have.... it's quite thick and should do the job nicely :)

Traffic there and back sucks.

Once there, I end up in line behind either someone writing a check, or someone trying to put something they can't on food stamps.

Online, I can order painlessly with the mouse.

I also don't mind paying a little more for better cables.
that's pretty much the definition of socially phobic.
