Who makes i850 mobo's??

Intel, ASUS and Gigabyte make P4 motherboards at the moment. If all you can see are Intel markings, then you probably have the Intel board. The Intel board is pretty distinctive....the heatsink over the chipset MCH is black with very long fins, and is held down by a very long Z shaped wire.

You said i850. The i850 chipset is the P4 supporting chipset.

You mean i820 or i840? i820 boards only have 2 RIMM slots. Most manufacturers made them, although most pretty much withdrew them.

The most common is the Intel Vancouver VC820 motherboard, and possibly the ASUS P3C-E. The Intel board uses a green PCB, ASUS uses brown.

The i850 is for the P4 only and Gigabyte (aside from Intel) was the first to market (maybe Asus too, but I dunno!).

Intel, Gigabyte, and ASUS all had boards available at the same time. The ASUS one is the best featured and most overclockable, as usual.
