That would be awesome, I would love to get a laptop ready to go (Hardware wise) and then get to install whatever I want instantly, not have to format it again and all that, and I want one that doesnt have the company's name on the screen when I boot it up. I want system Diagnostics like a Custom Built PC. I know that this can be turned off but I dont want to have to do that, I want it to come already!

I could have sworn I read a report from Comdex that Toshiba was slated to be the first out with the nVidia chipset in a notebook. I do know that the Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 will use DDR memory and is supposed to be released this January. Crap, they no longer have the specs on the website. I will have to check my cache at work to see if I kind find them.

Pre-installed OS's aren't THAT bad.

I bought an Inspiron 8000 that came with WinME installed. I booted it up once, made sure it worked, then turned it off, inserted an XP CD, and wiped it clean. Took about 5 extra minutes, and I had the reassurance that the system worked before I installed anything.

I have an older Toshiba and I am happy with it. No prbs :)

daddy-o, I wanted to do that, but my system came with software and such that i need to run, so i am stuck with 98se on my laptop. The only way to get the apps I need it to buy them, and I dont feel like it

IBM makes (arguably) the best laptops out there (ThinkPad A-Series). I don't know when/if IBM plans to release anything based on nVidia's chipset though, since IBM seems to have deals with Intel and ATI. Still, I think the ThinkPad is tops for durability, the only company that I've heard can match it is Toshiba's Tecra line.
