Who makes fast, low-latency ECC DDR2?

No one seems to make ECC RAM in their high-speed grades, just the standard speed grades.

Even then, the prices are ludicrous, considering that all they have to do is solder a 9th chip onto a PCB that already has 8 chips on it.

Any recommendations, on where to get reasonably fast ECC RAM?

Do you really *need* ECC RAM? Generally its only used in servers, intended for reliability and stability, not performance. Go with non-ECC for a gaming rig, IMO.

Well, I'm hoping to build a development and work rig (lots of photo processing, lots of databases, 3D graphics - volumetric rendering, etc.) - with lots of RAM (2 GB at least, possibly 4).

I just wanted the ECC to try and avoid the random corruption problem - which for the new high speed RAMs is supposed to become potentially relevant at about 2 - 4 GB.
