Who Makes Dell LED Monitors? Is it Samsung?

I need a new monitor to replace a old 19" CRT. Yea, haven't bought a monitor in the last 10 years. Been doing some reading and have narrowed down my search to a few. Most people recommend Samsung, Dell, and Asus.

I would live to keep the budget under $200 but it is flexible if a great deal is out there. HDMI is a must as I need to hook up a xbox360.

The use of this monitor will primarily be web browising and videos (stream sports from nba.com and mlb.com). I also plan on hooking up my xbox360 and use it for my pc gaming. I mainly play sports (Madden NFL 11, NHL 11) and first-person-shooters (COD and Battlefield).

Here are the links for one to look at specs. From my reading, seems like monitor specs are not what one should go by as they are not regulated and can me made up.

Asus VE 248h $200cdn

Dell ST2320L $150cdn but doesn't come with DVI cable. VGA vs DVI? does it matter? Will I have to spend $20 on a DVI cable?

Wildcard: Asus ML248H $200cdn

Please help me choose the right monitor. If you have any other recommendations then please let me know as I am open to suggestions. This is just the 3 that I have found on my own for a decent price.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am in Canada so can't get the newegg.com prices. I went to the store and checked out ML248H that RavenSeal posted. Compared it ST2320L and really couldn't justify the extra $50 so I ordered the Dell ST2320L for $149.99canadian.

I am hoping I made the right decision.

BTW, anyone know the answer to the topic question? Just wondering who makes Dell monitors. Is it Dell? I thought they rebrand them, just not sure who makes them though.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that my Dell 2405FPW was made by Samsung. I'm not sure if that still holds true for their current models, though.

The PVAs are made by Samsung (at least the panels). However I'm pretty sure Dell has a lot of different OEMs it uses. Purchasing a Dell monitor was like a lottery since sometimes the same model came in IPS, PVA, or TN. Since I don't think their LEDs are PVA (I think most are TN except the touch screen version which is IPS) it's probably not Samsung.

Thanks for the response guys. Hopefully that ST2320L is decent enough for browsing and gaming .

LG maybe? I'm pretty sure LG makes their IPS panels.
