I've used a number of Soyo mobos, and never had a serious problem with any of them.

I would pick an ECS mobo before MSI, but if that's your only 2 choices go fo the SOYO.

Asus & Abit are much better choices.

I would buy Soyo over MSI anytime. I purchased both Soyo and MSI motherboards and the Soyo performs much better. Website support should also be another area to check, for me Soyo's website is much better and more reliable, It's never been down and I've never had a problem getting the lastest BIOS from them which is important when you need good support. I feel Soyo produces higher quality products than MSI.

I've had both (still have a Soyo in one of the kids PCs). Not wild about either, but MSI is the bottom of the heap. I'd take Soyo over MSI.

I've never owned either, but a couple years back, MSI was was a poorly-rated value outfit (I remember agonizing over which slot adapter to get because the MSI cost half what the Asus was going for). I was rather shocked last year to see Anand calling them a "Tier One" manufacturer, like Asus.

Anyhoo, the attitudes and experiences I see in forums toward MSI nowadays still tend to run largely toward the negative, while Soyo gets little discussion, which says to me people aren't having many problems with them. Just an observation.

Wouldn't that be Anandhoo?

It`s really pointless,I can find you people that don`t like Asus,Abit,MSI,ECS etc, just look at the specs and price (maybe a few reviews as well) and decide for yourself.

I prefer Epox,Soltek boards myself because they are excellent on stability & very good value for money.

My previous mobo was the Soyo P41 Fire Dragon and it was very fast, it didnt O/C much but it ran fast and was stable. My setup ran almost as fast as the same type of systems in the compare area at 3DMark. I was the fastest for exact speeds and just behind a guy running 133 FSB to my 115 FSB.

This was the absolute best advice you were given. Ya gotta do some work and limiting youself to those two boards will enevitably limit your final outcome. Do the work, take the time and make the right decision.

Ask someone who has built hundreds of PCs using the two brands. He will say Soyo.
