My parents want to replace their electric range with a new one.

Must be stainless steel with black accents to match their kitchen.

What brands and specific models should I suggest to them, saying under $1500 real world price, ideally $1000 - $1200, or under $1000 if possible.

What specific features should I be looking for, who makes most reliable ranges, and any specific stainless steel models that look particularly stylish?

Thanks in advance.

Any particular models in GE Profile line you can recommend or have seen highly reviewed?

My wife is a Manager in Appliances at Lowes--I will say she recommends anything from LG or Samsung has the least amount of returns/repairs. We have a LG Fridge and Stove and like them. The stove is a self clean convection stainless steel.

its been about 5 years since I slung appliances.

Ranges are pretty easy. It doesn't sound like you are looking for a built-in, so go to any appliance store and take a look. Your price range is about double what any good range will run you.

Why anyone would spend that much on an electric is beyond me. Gas on the other hand... Turn it on and it's on.

Lots of the GE crap is made in china now, appliances included. LG/Samsung is usually South Korea

Buy an electric induction range. It is what they use in a lot of restaurants now. It can boil water even faster than a gas range. It also has the greatest temperature control of any electric or gas range.

Good advice. Eric Ripert uses an induction range on his cooking show. It's the ultimate in fast heating and precise temperature control.

Although I went with gas since it's cheaper and I highly prefer it to regular electric.
