Just wondering what's the best board to buy in terms of reliability and mfg BIOS support?

I've had nothing but good luck with ASUS, MSI, ABIT, and Gigabyte for the last ten years. Running two ASUS boards ATM. Thumb-drive BIOS flashes are the schizzel!

they are all pretty good - 1 may have a slightly better board than another on 1 chipset only for that to be overturned on another.

The only motherboard I have ever had that I would complain about is from PC-Chips. Other then that, my current Gigabyte board doesn't allow me to overclock well (but it does what its supposed to, so I can't complain). Never had one problem with ASUS, Epox, ECS, ect. In the end, I have had the best luck with ASUS so they are who I prefer.

Asus or DFI.
IMO.

I personally wouldn't touch Gigabyte after reading a few threads about them not providing all accessories for the motherboards, about about the guy whose on his 3rd gigabyte motherboard from cap's exploding, and that whole Gigabyte going public against Asus for their energy efficiency claims being bogus; just doesn't bode with me well.

I haven't used an Abit, MSI, Foxconn, etc. boards so I wouldn't know. I just know MSI and Foxconn look kinda cheaply built visually.

Sooner or later every manufacturer is going to produce a board that is an epic fail.
Asus I like a lot, but I can never forget the awful P2L97-DS . A very expensive board that was plagued with problems and that Asus left its owners without a recourse.
Gigabyte I liked until I ran into the virtual bios 'feature' that is utterly useless on the P35-DS3L, a soldered bios chip, and the removal of the boot block option from the bios.
Using an Abit board now for the first time and so far no issues .

If I had to pick a board that I had the fewest issues with it would be Intel, though the options in the bios are limited.

My gigabyte is working fine.. got a mild OC out of it.. but if you want a big OC go with DFI.

For me, I would say Asus and Intel boards for the most consistently stable and trouble-free boards over a span of 8 something years.

I must say that my MSI 915GM is the best board I have ever used. Of course all the other boards I have used were made by ECS.....

Well thats such a broad question it is hard to answer it in the first place. But I will say that I have had a very good experience with my current MSI board in terms of Bios support and communication to MSI, not to mention a top notch quality board. The only complaint I have with Abit (IP35-E) is the Bios doesn't seem to play nice when flashing video card bios- apart from that great board. Asus, meh bit of a mixed bag I lost my Commando due to a screwed up bios flash. DFI, well my NF4 SLI-D is still humming along after all these years and has never missed a beat, thumbs up DFI. Other manufacturers I have not owned yet would like to try out (since they appear to be getting good reviews) are Foxconn and Biostar.
