my business is in need of some laptops.. something like.. core 2 quad core, 8gb of ram...
Which companies produce that sort of thing? Anyone know?

you can get it one at a place like xtremenotebooks.com... but they only seem customizable to 4 gigs of ram.. I think we could consider a dual core box, but it seems like the most you can get is 4 gigs of ram.

Notebooks only have 2 DIMM slots and the most that RAM comes in size-wise is 2GB sticks (at the moment).

As for the fact that they have quad-core notebooks, that's because they are using desktop processors in the notebook package.

Sager has a model that uses a desktop Quad core, but so far I don't think any notebooks offer 8gigs of ram. Also that notebook is going to cost like 4 grand, pretty pricey for that kind of performance.

You should look at the Accelerator on Xtremenotebooks.com. It comes with a Q6600 or Q6700, and can order up to 4GB RAM. However, Brainonska511 wasn't correct, they do make 4GB SODIMM modules of DDR2 667: http://www.memory4less.com/m4l...=fd_04&itemid=59175052

The Hypersonic EX7 has 4 memory slots, however it isn't a Santa Rosa chipset and I don't think it would work with 8GB. You could email powernotebooks.com and Hypersonic and see if they know if their systems will support those 4GB modules.

As the others have said, nothing is available with 8GB RAM!

I run 4GB RAM and a 4GB ReadyBoost drive (arguably 8GB of memory) on Vista HP and it's plenty, believe me! 😀

I think a Sager NP9261 would be your best bet!

Killernotebooks has a model called Odachi that can take a c2q 6700, 4GB max ram though. On the plus side, you can stick in 2 video cards and 3 hdd. 17" 1920x1200
Waiting for mine to be shipped...

I thought some had 3? I could be wrong though.

You could always use a little shuffle cube box, a 7"LCD monitor, and a APC battery unit. Or buy a HP HDX laptop. 20.1" wide screen, X7900 Core 2 processor, 4GB RAM. Decent battery life from it's 10lb forklift battery 😛. ATI 2600HD XT card.
