I need to buy a new battery for my SUV, (Blazer 4wd, vortex 4300, 6c.)
I also have a 900 watt stereo system, so I need a good one.

Current battery is the one i got with the vehicle and it lasted 4 years, but its losing crank power real quick in the pennsylvania cold.

I dont want a Die Hard battery because they cost too muc, but I'd like somewhere that does free installation.

Need recommendations for today after work.

I have always had good luck with interstate batteries evn over the oh so godly optima junk which I returned 3 times and then got the interstate as I normally would.

AutoZone's Duralast works perfectly fine. $62 installed for me yesterday. (Yes, installation is free)

NAPA's batteries are really decent. Have used them exclusively for the last 20 years. They have 3 different prices for most vehicles; depends how good you want, and how long of a warranty.

Keep in mind that batteries are like VCRs.....There are probably only 3 or 4 manufacturers who make them and slap a different label on them, depends on who they are making them for.

I think East Penn, Deka, and Exide make the majority of car batteries.

We abuse the crap out of the dragster and our Optima red top has been a great battery.

If you want "cheap" just get whatever Costco carries. They generally carry very high quality stuff at a very good price.

Optima's are far from the best, especially for a street car. Lots of failures with them. They have their uses, but they aren't as good as purported. Besides, the OP already said a Diehard was too expensive, so that would rule out an Optima, too.

The standard interstate battery is the mt75 which is a perfect fit, an mt 78 is larger and will fit but its a tight squeeze and will help with any extra power draw. Also you might want to run a heavier gauge wire from the alternator to the battery.

Those 2 batteries come in different grades depending on how much you want to spend.

Agreed, there are a lot better choices for the weight, size, and money.

Yep I just went with Duralast from Autozone. $50 for a new battery as opposed to more than double for an optima.

I just put a new battery in my Grand Prix back in November
It was an AC Delco with about 780 CCA or so. Now it was
not cheap (about $130) but it has a 7 year Warranty with Free
Replacement if it fails in the first 5 years ... prorated after that time.

Other fine brands are Optima (about the same price), Diehard,
Interstate ... would not use anything other than these as they
are all very well rated.

I agree! For the price Duralast is a quality battery and is highly rated by CR. It's the only battery I've been using for the past 20 years.

just go to wallyworld (totally against that store) and get a 1000 cranking amp batt for about $65. good warranty (iirc 3yr). and i hope your joking about free installation. its easy

one bolt that holds it down- take it off. then take off neg cable, then pos. replace in reverse order.

Die hard is expensive? Your talking about an investment that will last you around 4 to 5 years. What I usually do is go to wallmart and buy the Everstar MAXX battery. It has a pretty long warranty. I then keep the receipt. Right before the warranty expires I get the battery exchanged saying it's bad. I do it will the next battery and the next battery. That pretty much keeps me out of ever having to buy a battery for the car again.

Got one a couple of years ago for my SUV. After two cross country drives and New England winter, I've had zero issues.

Anything made by Johnson Control is good, go for the cheapest with the longest warranty (that would means Walmart Evergreen Maxx, same as Sears' DieHard Gold for $20 less). Sad to say, but the evil empire wins this time.
