Meeting last month at a sweltering U.S. base outside Doha, Qatar, with his top Iraq commanders, President Bush skipped quickly past the niceties and went straight to his chief political obsession: Where are the weapons of mass destruction? Turning to his Baghdad proconsul, Paul Bremer, Bush asked, "Are you in charge of finding WMD?" Bremer said no, he was not. Bush then put the same question to his military commander, General Tommy Franks. But Franks said it wasn't his job either. A little exasperated, Bush asked, So who is in charge of finding WMD? After aides conferred for a moment, someone volunteered the name of Stephen Cambone, a little-known deputy to Donald Rumsfeld, back in Washington. Pause. "Who?" Bush asked.

and that, in a nut shell, will (hopefully?) cost him re-election.

Liberation be damned...we went to war due to the "imminent threat" of WMD. Where are they? And if the evidence is/was there, as claimed, why wasn't it given to the weapons inspectors?

You've made the dangerous assumption that his Democratic detractors would have performed better . . . I'm not sure there's much evidence for that conclusion. Outside of Dean the majority of the doves amongst the Dems are essentially unelectable . . . which means your options then fall to Nader . . . HAHAHAHAHA . . . or LaRouche . . . that's not even funny.

What is sad is that Bush should have known precisely, in detail, who was in charge, and how ops were being conducted before ever setting foot in Qatar. How could a President who's being scrutinized on this completely blow it off?

He would have been fully briefed... his statements are his attempt to distance himself from the problem... Plausable Denial... let those who must fall on the sword.... The Game and the Agenda.... Bush has shown his position... now he is set for the onslaught if it comes..

OB Ladin... I assume... now that his four and a half million chief lieutenants are either dead or captured.. and he's still wanting to develop packages for interstate transit..
