Hong Kong is the second and Tokyo the fourth most expensive city to live in the world, well ahead of most cities in the US. If anything, the cost of a 875P MB is probably considered cheap by the people there, compared to their other expenses.

I lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 1997-2001 and there were a good number of PC hardware shops around the city at IT centers like Low Yat Plaza, Imbi Plaza and the Megamall that were always well stocked with all the latest and greatest, and seemed to be fairly busy. You didn't have to wait on stuff to be Fed Exed either. Just hop in the car and go grab whatever you needed and be back home to do your build or mod in less than an hour.

I also used to make almost monthly visits to our regional office in Singapore where there were plenty of shops at Sim Lim Square and Funan Center. Again, with a good selection and decent prices as compared to the U.S. Anybody that knows Singapore can appreciate how expensive it is there as well. Maybe not as expensive as Hong Kong or Tokyo, but still not cheap, especially for things like automobiles. Even so, there was no shortage of M-B's, BMW's and the like, LOL.

In short, there are plenty of people who can afford these "high end" things. BTW, given the chance, I would move back to SE Asia in a heartbeat. Cheers.
