Good luck if you get a Saab, you might need it. Saabs are either great or they really suck. Their customer service sucks so if you get one you had better hope that you get a great one. One a Saab starts to have problems, they seem to multiply. I had at 96 900S. It was a nightmare from day 1...a true Saab story. The engine always had a loud ping whenever I accelerated from a stop. They claimed that it was normal for it to ping since they didn't know how to fix it. The heated seats broke twice, the had to replace the alternator and the water pump. When I had the car for 2 and a half years, there was suddenly a loud knocking in the engine. The first thing Saab said was that they wanted receipts for all the oil changes I had done and that they were going to send out the engine oil to be tested. This was before they took the engine apart to find the problem. They were looking to place blame with me so they wouldn't have to pay to fix the car. Luckily for me, they discovered that a couple of teeth on the timing gear were chipped. It took them 2 1/2 weeks to fix and they didn't provide a loaner car since they claimed that loaner cars were only for regular service appointments, which this obviously was not.
The inside was also not designed properly. Because the ignition switch is on the center console, the armrest is pushed back too far and was too low to really use. It was between the 2 seatbacks, not a comfortable position to use. Also, the placement of the ingition switch makes it easier for someone to break a key off in the ignition. I had buttons on the A/C break off under normal use. The sunvisor is mounted in the wrong position. If you want to turn the visor to the side to block the sun, it only covered about a third of the side window, rendering it useless. It should be mounted in the corner of the roof, not 3 or 4 inches away.
I was fortunate that it was a 3 year lease so I was able to give the keys back and walk away. I'm sure the car became someone else's nightmare.
