The order of operations in that line is ambiguous.
is it
10 = 1.4/( (R1+200000) *.47)
or
10 = (1.4*.47)/(R1+200000)

bottom = my first answer,

top = - 199999.702128

EDIT: whoops, had them switched before

that what I got
you multiply 10 times 1.4 then divide by .47 and subtract 200000

i dont mind math at all, its quite enjoyable when a) you understand what just happend and b) you work out a mahoosive equation and u get it right

you couldnt do that without asking on here? that was simple

Wtf? That second one is not an option. It's either what you listed first, or do them all in order.

Edit: n/m, wasn't thinking.

doing it in order is equivalent to that one

10 =

1.4
-----------------------------
(R1 + 2R2) × C1

R2 = 100K
C1 = .47

I am trying to figure out the value of the R1 resistor is..

Here is the equation.

F =

1.4
-----------------------------
(R1 + 2R2) × C1

I want my F= 10
R2=100k
C1=.47

See this link "555/556 Astable" I want a 10Hz timer.
