As for the comment about if I were in the same situation... hell yes I would stay underground. If I were in a "punk" band yes, but if I was an alter/rock band, no. Punk (how it used to be) was never ment for the mainstream, that's why we have this crappy pop-punk wannabe boyband moneyhungry homos filling up MTV and radio slots.
REAL punk bands, like the oldschool ones didn't do it for the money. It was a lifestyle, it was all about the music and expressing your feelings and all that nonsense. Now it isn't like that. Some bands can still do very well w/o charging 23094809384 dollars for a concert ticket, without MTV, without radio...
Look at NOFX, Bouncing Souls, Dropkick Murphys, etc etc etc... huge following, people still buy their CDs, they don't charge 20 dollars for albums, you can get into their shows for 10 bucks... they are happy with what they are as a band and don't need record labels or 13 year old girl fans to make them happy.
