if i had a ps3 i would.
who else does? why?/whynot?
or do most of u guys just don't do f@h on your ps3 and use it for gaming mostly?

Mine is usually folding when I'm not using it for something else. I do shut it off time to time just to give it a break though.

It usually finishes a 750k step WU in about 6-7 hrs. It takes my e6400 about 20hrs to finish a 500k step WU. But it doesnt get near as many points as running SMP. I think the highest point WU my PS3 has done was 300 points.

really? i heard the ps3 gives crazy ppd... no?

My PS3 runs 24/7 most of the time..crunching around 20 hours a day, entertaining us the rest of the time.

I shut it down every few weeks for a day...the WUs that it crunches generally earn 250, 300, 340 and 385 points, though on 2/08 it crunched a 1500 point WU.

Here are some daily point totals:

2/15 - 725
2/14 - 973
2/13 - 1141
2/12 - 951
2/11 - 1158
2/10 - 846
2/09 - 770
2/08 - 2135

Sounds like the same situation as the GPU client, it can crunch much more data than the CPU client but it doesn't get the ppd to reflect that 😛

I got this from here ,makes sense of why they score it like that I guess.

It seems that the PS3 is more than 10X as powerful as an average PC. Why doesn't it get 10X PPD as well?

We balance the points based on both speed and the flexibility of the client. The GPU client is still the fastest, but it is the least flexible and can only run a very, very limited set of WUs. Thus, its points are not linearly proportional to the speed increase. The PS3 takes the middle ground between GPUs (extreme speed, but at limited types of WU's) and CPU's (less speed, but more flexibility in types of WUs). We have picked the PS3 as the natural benchmark machine for PS3 calculations and set its points per day to 900 to reflect this middle ground between speed (faster than CPU, but slower than GPU) and flexibility (more flexible than GPU, less than CPU).

The PS3 is a huge contributor to F@H.

Anyone know how hot the PS3 gets running F@H? have any PS3s failed as a result of running F@H 24/7?
