Hey,
I was looking through the crucial website and looking through all the different types of ram there are for the epox8kha and see 4 different kinds of 256, i know there are either pc1600 or pc2100, but can someone explain to me the other stuff?

CL 2.5 v CL 2
Non-Parity v ECC
32Megx64 v 32Megx72

and which one is better?
CL 2.5, Non-Parity, 32Megx64 v CL 2, ECC, 32Megx72??

Thanks in Advance!

Actually you can get the info back on the Crucial site. Look at the "Library" or the FAQ's. A couple of quickies though, CL2 is better/faster than CL2.5 and ECC is for Error Correction and you don't really need it unless you are running a data critical server or some such. It also causes a (very small) hit in performance.

so, the site says that ECC will reduce your system performance by 2%, but than people say that CL being 2, makes your system faster. Do they cancel eachother out? or is it worth getting ram that is CL 2 rather than CL2.5 and not worry bout ECC v non-Parity??

The unbuffered, non-parity, non-ECC PC2100 is what most people use. ECC is mainly used in servers.

If you have a 200MHZ CPU, PC1600 will perform the same as PC2100, assuming you aren't overclocking.
If you have a 266MHZ CPU, PC2100 is what you need.

<< Do they cancel eachother out? >>

Interesting idea, but really not worth the effort. Look, if you are running mission critical apps or a server, then go for the ECC. However, this is not one of those things that people get "just because it was available" and "I want the latest and greatest". It's just not necessary and not worth the $$ or the performance hit for 99% of us; power users or not. Save the extra few bucks and buy a new mouse pad. It will be money better spent. Seriously.
