I'm going to buy one in the next few months but don't know good brands, models, etc. Anyone have good or bad experiences they want to share? Money is an object. I just want it to wash the dishes effectively. It doesn't need to be too fancy.

Get one with a time delay start...best feature ever. Load it up, add the soap, pick the settings and have it run at 4am so you don't have to hear it.

bosch makes nice, quiet ones... their lower end models don't have time delay (agreed that's a necessary feature)

we have a kitchenaid. a little pricey, but, you can barely hear it running while standing next to it. if you get a quiet one, i see no need for one with a time delay feature.

My parents have a Tappan dishwasher. It's got to be at least 15 years old now, and it still works. I don't know if it's loud or quiet, but those are relative terms. My mom thinks it's loud, but she doesn't even like the sound of a small fan running at low speed. I, on the other hand, find something like an air conditioner to be rather soothing, providing it doesn't have anything rattling around inside.

It's probably an inexpensive model though. I might be looking for a dishwasher sometime in the not-too-distant future, but my price range would be <$200.
