who knew Mo'Nique and Mariah Carey could act?

damn I wasn't expecting much, but I got to agree with your sentiment

anyways, Nick Cannon made a horrible mistake marrying Mariah Carey unless they didn't sign a pre-nup, and I'm shocked Monique isn't playing her type-cast character

Movie looks like it will be really good, I will definitely be watching it.

Udgnim I don't know what you mean about horrible mistake. Even if they signed a pre-nup Nick wouldn't get a lot of $$$ from her if they divorce. Mariah was worth $300 million before they even met. Doubtful he'd get more than a small piece. I would say his horrible mistake was getting her name tattooed across his back big as hell.

Some serious whales in that trailer. I barely recognized Carey - I was expecting to see another low-cut and boobs falling out. Damn!

Where was Mariah in the trailer?

she was the Social Worker, had on a brunette wig. If you didn't know she was in the movie, you probably wouldn't even know it was her.

wow that's incredible. Glad to see some quality films coming out of the black community rather than Madea Part 9

I'll be interested to see it, but one thing that struck me from the preview was the conventional beauty and light-skin of the "good" characters, the teacher and the social worker. Contrast that with the the non-conventionally attractive appearance and dark skin of the lead and her mother. I never like it when appearance is associated with character, and hardly see this as a coincidence.

I have no interest in seeing a film like that (why would I pay $11 to feel sad?), but it does look good.

can hardly wait to download that one. I like it seeing "big stars" play real characters (Mariah w/o tons of "good" airbrushing, Eminem as Rabbit)...

And yet 99% of the people that see this movie will never have that thought enter their head. Also, for the 1% that do realize that, about a tenth of them will make a big deal about it, claim it's racist, and demand that African Americans be more diversified in the roles they play in movies.

In the end, nothing will come of it, these words I've typed will have been forgotten, and we'll have long since returned to neffing. Why? Because neffing is what we do best. 😎

Mo`Nique was a lighter skinned character, and it looked like she portrayed an antagonist...

The cast is good overall, Paul Patton is one of the more underrated actresses out there. She's easy on the eyes too, man I bet Robin Thicke is hitting that from the back right now.

Yo' man, it's all about the neffing. Stop over-complicating it.

idk, I always thought Mariah looked a lot better before she started skanking it up in the late 90's.

My neighbor went to Sundance and they showed it there and he called us @ 3am telling us how good it was and how Monique would get an oscar nod for it. Supposedly Mariah is good too. He also LOVES Celin Dion(?) so take it for what it's worth.
