Who knew Lexus steering wheels are made from real wood?

I discounted Lexus steering wheels to plastic since it's so smooth and looks to be one piece. This is quite some workmanship for the steering wheel.

Quote from the first page of the article:

"To make a premium steering wheel, you need premium materials. Lexus' solid-carved steering wheels (one of two types found in Lexus vehicles, the other being the wood-finished style) are made from pure walnut and birds-eye maple."

So only SOME of their vehicles (presumably the more expensive ones) use actual wood. The others are "wood-finished style."

We have one of those wheels in my wife's Lexus. It is very nice.

And Volkswagen. You don't get real wood veneer until you buy a higher-end Audi. They'll give you a plank in a Bentley, though...

They'll toss in machined aluminum everything, including the gas cap, on a Bentley too.
