Think about this... where do they get the electricity from? your going to pollute one way or another making your car go. Nuclear power plants or coal power plants... that electricity is coming from somewhere. Just like the hydrogen cars that dumb@ss bush is pushing for. Well where the hell are we going to get hydrogen from? OH YEAH!!! seperate water with energy. then burn it. Well... you just used electricity to make it which means in the long run its not helping.

Practicality killed it.

If ANYONE had invented a practical electric car, it would have succeeded.

Agreed. Once someone figures out how to make a practical electric car, word will be on the Internet quickly, and once the word's out, it can't be put back in. Doesn't matter how many oil lobbyists and politicians get involved. The RIAA hasn't killed filesharing. The oil industry wouldn't be able to kill a practical electric car. They'd reel and scream and throw a hell of a tantrum, but they'd never be able to keep it from selling.

Wrong
Big auto doesn't want it cause anybody can make an electric motor, the gasoline engine is a barrier to entry. Big auto could have R&D electric like they do everything else and would have advanced an electric car a lot furhter farther than it is today.
Their interest is entirely self interest based not that it wouldn't work, but in that it didn't need the competition. I don't blame them but to think that the failure of electrics is entirely based on its practicality is wrong.

For thoise who don't understand the electricity industry , shut-up, it is way more effecient to produce electricty than it is to drill, pump, transport, and distribute gasoline its a net energy loser the same as ethanol. Gasoline is unique in the fact its portable and has a lot of stored energy by weight.
They are two different products and we can much more easliy replace electricty thatn we can non renewable fossil fuels.
