No kidding. My UC app/acceptance was pretty eye-opening last year.

I'm applying from out of state.
Let's just say that drops me down to around 0-1% acceptance to Cal. :(

instate, i was at just under 1400 SAT with about a 3.7GPA weighted. i was denied from everywhere i applied, and only got into UCSC by appeal- thank god, because i would definitely have picked it over anywhere else, had i known what i do now.

What exactly is "by appeal"?
You should have applied as an accounting major with that sig.

You guys need to specify what scale your SAT scores are on. A 1500 on the new SAT (2400) sucks but a 1500 on the old SAT (1600) is very respectable.

Anyone know if this is the same for USC? I am applying there from out of state and don't really want to waste my time if I need a 1500 and 4.0.

[edit] Sorry, was thinking of just the UC schools. You have until this Saturday (10th) to apply for USC if you want money.

Some UCs automatically accept you if you're the top 4% in your class, at least that was the case for me. UCI automatically accepted me so that replaced UCR as my backup.

I'm so very glad my schools didn't rank, or i'd have been in the bottom quartile.

My mistake, I was thinking of just the UC schools, *that* deadline passed. For USC however you have until this Saturday the 10th if you want money.

Question, do I need to send in a secondary school report or midyear report in like I would at other schools? I can't find that info anywhere.
