No doubt in my mind.
Forget Anna Pavlova,
Dame Alicia Markova
& the fair Karen Kain.
The best of her kind
is Dame Margot Fonteyn.

Who can forget her grace in Ondine and her passion in Romeo & Juliet?
Most of all, she had the line. :)

I always liked Gelsey Kirkland, despite her freakishly large lips.

I'm drawing a blank on the correct name, but I also like Natalia Makarenkhov - or something like that. It's been a while since I saw any of her old performances.

Fonteyn was magical. :)

Barishnikov (sic) of course... oh, and the guy who was in The Money Pit with Tom Hanks...

Hold on, I'm going to have to use one of my lifelines!

Not really ballerinas but dancers nonetheless, I like Margie Gilles and the chick from Human Steps La La La who's name escapes me for the moment....BTW this certainly is the place for a poll of this nature.....;)

Actually Dennil, ballet is a dying art. I'm affiliated with our local orchestra and see quite a few performances each year. They are never as popular as the more modern shows.

May I recommend you see a STOMP show next time they are in your area?

The Art of Noise at its very best!

:)

I like tap dancing as a rule, but old school only. That rude, low-class Australian stuff does nothing but get on my nerves. ;)

It's just noisy and way too industrial for me. Maybe the members of Prodigy might appreciate it, but not this old dennilfloss. Bring me Cyd Charisse any day instead. :(
