First I have to wait on the $5,000 PC I need to run it.

When I get that, then I'll be all over that Crysis stuff!

Yeah, preliminary subjective reviews, IIRC, say it'll run perfectly on midrange, current-gen video cards, and much worse on high-end DX9 cards of the last generation.

As a game reviewer I'll be hard pressed not to upgrade as soon as the real next-gen pc games come out. But with the 2900xt dropping in price my future started looking a lot brighter in a financial kind of way :p One thing is for sure though, I'll have this game the day it comes out if not earlier :p

I dont even have a Dx10 card yet but soon as some dx10 games come out I will grab me one.
Mybe when they finaly release this damn game I can get a 8800gts 640MB for a tad bit cheaper then they are now.
Besides my evga 7950gt 512mb ko version can run all the games I want to play right now at full/highest settings with highest eye candy and all that..

Maybe im not as much of a gamer as I was before but I agree that there is little reason to upgrade and spend 400 or more dollars on a DX10 video card. Oblivion lovers are the only reason I see, but I'm not a RPG player.

Since its made by the same folks who did Far Cry (and I'm one of the few people who thinks Far Cry was UNDERRATED, not overrated) this will be one of the few games I purchase right away without waiting for reviews or friends opinions.

Im just having troubles getting Vista to install nevermind upgrading to a DX10 card...If the Vista installer keeps annoying me I may be trying Crysis in DX9 on XP and get rid of my Vista copy.

I am trying my best to keep from upgrading anything until we see real benchmarks. :D

Well, DX10 does not really offer "new" features. Everything was possible to do in DX9. What DX10 offers is efficiencies. Getting complex tasks to run using less resources. So, it should not be a surprise to see "slower" DX10 hardware performing better than "faster" DX9 hardware when running code optimized for DX10.

It will definitely be interesting to see how all of this pans out. Especially when comparing Nvidia's and AMD's performance of DX10.

I'm looking forward to this one a lot, and not because of graphics. Far Cry was an excellent shooter which had just the right combination of realistic action, open but structural levels, and Ahnold-like cheese. Now game developers have mentioned it being even more non-linear, having the ability to modify your character and weapons, and even have mentioned Deus Ex as being a partial inspiration. The same old FEAR/Doom 3/Half-Life 2/etc style of shooters is getting old.

Farcry was great. Unless the review really suck, which I highly doubt will happen, I'll get it.
The question is whether I get it at $49.99 or wait till it hits the $20 something range.

DX10, 64bit Vista, 8800GTS oc'd... im ready for Vista :)
oh and yep, on a 1280x1024 17" LCD... im definitely ready. Unlike you saps with those fancy 20.1" LCD's with whatever high-res they got these days, I can milk more higher-quality details thanks to my lower res. :D

I'm not on the Crysis wagon yet, but I'm curious to see how it performs in DX9 in an XP environment...Vista hasn't earned my trust yet...
