Who is That Guy?

As in "Don't be that guy" or "I don't want to be that guy".

I guess it means don't be the one to do something stupid or commit social faux pas? I just find this expression really interesting. Is there one set of characteristics that makes someone That Guy, or is is a catch all term that can apply to any situation?

yyeah, if you ever met 'that guy" you would know. he is the guy that ruins things, messes up, is selfish, just pretty much goes against the grain or does something he knowingly shouldn't

I don't think I've ever heard that before outside of TV.
