I am definitly planning on voting... and anyone who doesn't is derelict of their duties as a citzen of this country. Admit it now... post your excuse. And in the future, when some of these asshats start bichting about the winner, we can lookup this thread to ensure you actually intended to vote.

I'm not voting :

1. No difference in my state. I vote Repub? Too bad in Illinois, it's a blue state regardless (thanks to dirty politics of Mayor Delay). I vote Democrat? That's like adding sand to the sahara. I can save myself an hour or two and do something worthwhile.
2. No choice in candidates. Kerry or Bush? Voting anything else is a pipe dream. That's the grim reality of our system. I don't like Kerry, I don't like Bush. I'm not going to pick the lesser of two evils. I might as well vote for Cthulu, fvk going for the lesser of two evils.
3. Not a shred of difference. Both parties are 95% similar. Outside of a few electoral non-issues, both candidates will continue to uphold the status quo as God. It makes no real difference. Politicians are masters of lying, they will never enact something that isn't to their best interest (and their fat-cat rich white friends either). As long as corporatism holds sway over the interests of the American people, we aren't doing the country a service. In fact, we are probably hurting ourselves more than helping. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Those are basically my reasons for not voting.
 
I plan on voting multiple times in different states.

jk, I'm stuck voting in a non-swing state and have to watch a handfull of idiots pick the proesident.

Voting is immoral, and everyone should stop voting, ASAP. Voting makes the bureaucrats think that what they are doing is "justified." A vote in "representative" democracy is a vote for fraud, theft, aggression, taxation and violence. More on this here.

Unfortunately, for every one of 'you,' there are a dozen more who similarly don't know anything about politics, but are determined to vote anyway - their decision usually being based on some sound-bite or joke that they half-way recall.

So, it is your thought that the great democratic experiment is over? It took some bloodshed to get from even the Magna Carta to the USA. Without making me read the entire voluntaryism web site, how do you see us getting past where we are now to where they say we should be?

I come from a place where politics and voting is something that civilians don't really have a say in nor give a crap about. Thus explaining part of my attitude towards it. I was also joking around about the appearance thing..I hope you know...however, I don't think a president should be ugly either considering his position and media coverage. I think Bush looks more like a president than Kerry, even though I'm not crazy about him and his political views.

I voted for 2000; but despite my having voted in accordance with a majority of voting American Citizens for one of the candidates, another is now president. So how much did my vote count at that time? Did I/we get more of a right to complain, by your estimation, or less of one than if it had worked out otherwise? Did we get any more or less of a "voice" or say in how the country is run by having voted?

If I don't vote this time around, will I have had any less of a say in who runs it in the next presidential term than I did in the last? And since the outcome of the election is determined by the vote of a group of delegates that none of us had a say in electing (a representative democracy, it seems, where we don't get to choose who represents us), do any of us have much of a say at all?

Whatever your answers to these questions, and whatever your explanations of those answers, might be... at the end of the day, I/we/they have as much a right to "bitch" as you do. And you can say "STFU" until you're blue in the face; but until such a time as one of us violates the rules of this site or that you come in control of this or some other site we're doing it on, you have no more of a right to "bitch" about our "complaining" than we have to "bitch" and "complain" about the way in which our country is being run... and by whom.

This country started off as a minarchy. It was a great accomplishment getting rid of the tyranny of British rule. But what have we done? Over a period of a couple hundred years we have created a tyranny of our own, completely forgetting what this country was founded on in the first place.

To get past where we are now we need to simply end politics. Instead of trying to fill the bureaucracies with "reformers," we need to just get rid of the bureaucracies entirely. The best place we can start is by simply eliminating government positions in our local governments, all the way from road planners up to the mayor's office. After that, eliminate all state public offices, and eventually the federal government. I think in 10-20 years we could eliminate even the office of the presidency.

That is my standpont as well. I am not going to legitimatize what I feel is a fundamentally corrupt process.
 
The NSDAP (Nazis) won a majority of their seats in the Reichstag because people voted. And I think voter turnout was 98% in that year.
