The problem is that no one can be good at everything all the time.
That is where advisors come into play. I do have to admit, i would love to have seen him write his own speeches and speak his mind more often than to just be politically correct. When Obama started as president, he assumed he could make a lot of changes just like that. But he is not a dictator, he has not sole power over any decision made in the US. There is this whole political system in the US that must be confronted in order to make any change. He is a democratically chosen president in a democratic country where people can vote to allow changes. If you want something to be angry about, be angry about the power of the lobby on the government and the political system. With Obama it is not much different then Bush Jr. Personally i believe Bush Sr, had a vision of how the USA should function, but even he was limited in what he can do. Which is of course a good thing, looking back at all the decisions made by Bush Jr and group.

I agree though, it's the UK. We share and collaborate so much regarding the military and intelligence that on some levels we are less like cousins and more like spouses.

I would have to agree that canada and the UK are our strongest allies, (both in terms of being allied with us and their military strength).

Beyond them, I'd have to look at what countries supplied troops to US-led causes in recent years. (say, since fall of Soviet Union)

as far as "punching above their weight", he's just flattering them. it's hard to "punch above your weight" when every country in your weight class is described as "punching above their weight".

Pakistan is like that guy at everyone's workplace who people are forced to deal with to try to get certain things done but who everyone would much rather just beat with a baseball bat because he's either incompetent or intentionally sabotaging everyone else (or both).
