Working. It's unusual for us to work on a day like today but necessary to make up on some down time we had to take earlier in the year. Was definitely different driving to work this morning with few cars on the road though!

I went in to work today only to find out that the office was closed. I thought it was odd that the office wouldn't be closed today, but I was sure our holiday schedule said it reopened on 1/2 so I drove all the way in to find out that it doesn't open until tomorrow. That sucks, but at least I have the rest of the day off.

Normally, when a holiday falls on a Saturday, many companies will give you the Friday before off and when a holiday falls on a Sunday, they give you the Monday off. It has been like that at every company I've ever worked at. It is because most companies have set holiday schedules and you get x number of them off per year, but if a holiday falls on a weekend (which you normally would have off anyway), they give you the closest weekday off to keep the number of holiday vacation days given off constant.

Most 8-5, M-F type jobs wouldn't be working during the holiday because it fell on a Sunday. A lot of companies provide their employees a weekday off to compensate. :up:

Its a holiday for my company...except operations. Servers, mainframes, and networks dont have holidays so we're full staffed. 24x7x365.

I'm not working today. They almost had us going in but we didn't have a single reservation and all the body shops are closed. It's a stat holiday for the weekday staff so us weekend peeps get two days off.

I am working all 5 days this week. Odd, because some of our clients are actually not running today so its very slow here. The next 4 days will all be 100% normal though.

Working today. We got NY day off on Dec 30th, and we got Dec 29th off as well because turned out columbus was a holiday for the company, but we worked anyway. So we had a long break for the NY, but we start the work today.
