I was reading this joke titled "Today's Freshman, The Class Of 2002" and it mentions Momar Qadafi and the current class not able to know who he is..

well.. I don't know who/what he is and I decided to do a google search.. guess what? every google search came up with the same joke/speech told over and over again, referenced one way or other to the same text...

Can someone shed some light?

He not only runs Libya, but he does with caution. Reagan launched an attack on him during 1986 where one of his family members (a son?) was injured and possibly killed? Why does it take Saddam Hussain to get threatened so many times and he still hasn't learned yet? Maybe, he should look at history - and what happened to Libya.

What's Saddam going to learn from history? Regan's attack (w/ F-111s, IIRC) was just a slap on the wrist. There was no invasion, and even now, Qadafi (spelled like 20 different ways) is still in power. Heck, Libya even has Kentucky Fried Chicken. :)

Yea, I rememeber the attacks. We were living in Spain at the time. My dad works for a Defense company and we had access to the AF bases there. I was 8, but I remember how on edge everyone was there, and how tight the securty was. They used to display the level of security, I can't remember what it was though.

Hasn't he been trying to be friends, and condemning the terror attacks and doing something else to get in our graces?

Well Gaddafi did say that al-Qaeda were "terrorist people, crazy and mad", but at the same time he gives millions of dollars to Abu Sayyaf in the Philippines.

He also sheltered the Pan Am bombers for years.
