This would only be a deal if it were the FDR election. And it wouldn't be a hot one, just a new one.

I've been up all night, and I'm loving this. It is like a good football game, only one that takes 3 days...

I smell a lockdown coming on ;)

Seriously though, if Bush wins, Nader delivered the election to him. I mean it's nice that we have people who are independents, but the fact of the matter is, in today's day and age, no one but a democrat or republican will win the Presidential race. An independent party or third party has less chance to win than a Gay Black Satanic Female. I think the only reason Nader was in this election was to sway the vote and say he made a difference. He thought he was doing a good thing, as I believe he supported Gore, but he only hurt this election.

nope, he did a FAVOR. Everyone has a right to vote. Parties have a right to run. Death to the two party system. I'm sick of voting for the lesser of two evils. Screw em both.

I agree...and I was going to vote for Nader up until the end for two reasons. I don't agree with some of his ideas...although, I do with most, and since I'm in Indiana, it truly didn't matter...bush was going to win here, no questions. The last democratic prez that our state voted for was LBJ...so, hehe, no chance really. I agree with a multiple party system, but it would be hard to emplement with all of the "stupid" people in the US...the ones that are apathetic in the first place. Oh well, go Gore...I hate bush

on with the lesser of 2 evils!

If you dont make over 300k a year and you voted for bush, you arent very smart... and since 50% of people in the us do NOT make over that... well..... you figure out how enlightened our country is

I spoke to my mom who lives in FL. I was shocked to hear that all votes are on paper - not via voting booths like we've used in New York for decades.

She said that the first page of the voting book, the one for the president, was confusing in that the punches did not line up properly somehow . . . and that she has heard that many folks who intended to vote for Gore mistakenly were voting for a third party candidate. She said that it was very unclear and that by the afternoon people at her polling place were instructing voters to be careful with page one but that friends who did not get this warning in the morning ended up making the wrong vote.

Can someone in FL explain the way the actual voting works there?

WageSlave,

Please don't insult people who don't agree with you. I disagree 100% about your statement that people who vote for Bush aren't very smart if they don't make over $300k. You don't see me calling Gore supporters "not very smart" just because I disagree with them. We all have our own opinions, and different issues/standpoints/characteristics are important to different people. Have a little more respect for others. . .

WageSlave is sort of right on, but it neeeds some if statements in there, and a couple of negatives removed. If you make over $300k and you are obsessed with money and you care more about your own money than about issues, then you would be stupid not to vote for Bush. Not to say that Bush doesn't have other things going for him (he's got a nice left ear lobe). In this sense it's a hot deal to vote for Bush, because you'll supposedly get some of your money back to put into trust funds for your children so that they can have a silver spoon and hoard more money for their own children.

Now if you care about the issues, you aren't necessarily stupid for voting one way or the other, unless you voted for the wrong guy thinking he was in favor of your issues.

I don't think Nader is proving anything at all. Perot got some 19% of the vote in one election, so it's obvious that a good third party candidate could make a huge difference. I just don't think Nader is the guy... as much as it saddens me.

I think we oughta adopt Canada's tactic of eliminating polls
in the weeks before the election. Not only do polls *clog*
the media, but they allow candidates to play this stupid
game of fine-tuning their platforms to grab the swing votes,
pushing what ups their numbers and setting aside what doesn't
(this doesn't really change what they're going to do if elected,
only what they're going to say to get elected). It'd be better
if they just had to stick to their guns and then see the results
of the only poll that matters, the one on Tuesday. It'd probably
help reduce voter apathy, too.

PLL, the reason for the 300k comment was that

people who vote for reps are GENERALLY wealthy, college grads, and white

people who vote for demos are GENERALLY minority, lower education levels, and mid to low class

and this isnt a combo, you can be white, just chances are that you are not in upper class

then again florida minorities are still POed about the gonzales thing, stupid kid...

but yeah, think about it, some guy who was interested in making money thru the nations pastime, and the guy did spend 300+ million on his campgain...

sad how every last thing in this country comes down to moolah...

wonder if coupons are stackable..
