I've owned an Abit KT7A and now an Epox 8KHA+ with 2 hard drives connected.
When the bios is set to auto detection on both boards, my Fujitsui 6gig is placed in LBA mode (as expected), but my Quantum 20gig drive always goes into LARGE (LRG) mode.
I thought the bios is meant to select the best mode. Both motherboards do the same, so why is the hard drive defaulting to large mode?
What's up with that?
I have to set it manually to LBA. I thought all modern drives now use LBA translation modes.
Does anyone else have this issue with large hard drives? I ask because once I forgot to change it back to LBA mode after bios flash (defaults to auto) and lost all the data on the drive from it using LARGE instead.
