Who is considered the finest Pianist in the world today?

Lang Lang is the most celebrated painist today. He is AMAZING and young. A few years ago he would have been considered up and coming but I think now you can say he's already "there".

I saw him perform live on PBS and have one of his CD's. He performed here at RIT when he was young...

Jordan Rudess!

well, probably not, but he is damn talented.

Is that the guy from Dream Theater?

My vote goes to YoYo Ma....even though he plays Cello his name is just more fun to say than anyone else, and I'll assume he knows some piano too.

Staley, yes that is the guy from Dream Theater. Insanely talented; his hands move so fast they're a blur (of course that statement applies to every single freaking member of DT!). He could use a bit more soul though.

That's a tough question, and I certainly haven't the credo to say who is the best.

He certainly is.

Depends on what you consider the Best. There are so many genres that I don't know you can pick a "Best" unless you give a category.

Some of my favorites are Yanni and Jim Brickman. Both are incredible and I've seen them in person.
