Who is camping amazon.com on thursday for a 360?

thats my fear as well...its going to be interesting. Its impossible to get an idea of how many people there will be, it would be interesting if Amazon showed number of votes, not just %.

So how will this happen? Right when it hits 11:00 AM (Pacific time) I click reload and hit buy as quick as I can?

I'm gonna try it with two machines, one I will have the 360 already in my cart, and the other I will try to nab it.

There will be like a kajillion people trying to buy 1,000 XBOX 360's. I'd like to, but something tells me it's not worth the frustration.

good idea...i'm going to have at least 3 going at once, one in cart, one on 360 page, one on homepage.

Each week's winner goes on sale Thursdays at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. Buying will close when available quantities have sold out. Be online, ready and waiting on Amazon.com, the second buying goes live. If you don't have an Amazon.com account already, get one now. We predict that these deals will sell out rapidly.

You won't buy products from Amazon Customers Vote the way you'd ordinarily buy at Amazon.com. We've implemented a special series of screens to ensure we only take as many orders as we can fulfill, and to ensure that each customer buys only one item. You'll be asked to verify your identity, and issued one of a limited number of claim codes that allow you to purchase at the special discounted price.

You must buy via the Amazon Customers Vote page (amazon.com/customers-vote), not the product detail page, in order to buy one of the set-aside items; otherwise, you will not pass through the series of screens in which we issue the claim code, and you will not receive the discount.

Additionally, only items shipped from and sold by Amazon.com are included in this promotion, although some of these items are sold on our site by third-party merchants. If you add an item to your cart from the detail page using the "Add to Shopping Cart" button for a different merchant (such as Target), we cannot apply the claim code to your order.

i thought you had to buy from the special page

Correct.

You do not have to check out, you simply get a code to purchase it if you are one of the first 1000. If you get a code, you get until friday to purchase it.

I'll give it a try I think, I've always been led to believe amazon has a pretty impressive farm too so I'm not putting money on them crumbling.

there's already tens of thousands aware of this deal. it'll be over in a second or two.

I'm guessing less.

Considering it's been posted on DiGG and a number of other very large sites, I would guess this is a correct number. (Or are you talking about how long it is going to last?)

How is the code issued though? is it emailed to you? is it like a lottery? will there be any speed involved or what?
