Okay, I am a Laker fan. Here's my take. Duncan is a good, dominant player. I would venture to say that Duncan means more to his team's success than Kobe does. HOWEVER, Duncan hasn't come up big in the playoffs since the Lakers started winning. He tries, sometimes too hard, or he'll vanish like Webber does. Their championship* aside (setting it aside is asking alot, but it deserves an *) Duncan hasn't been the type of dominant playoff superstar that Kobe has been. Kobe has ice in his veins, and wants the ball at the end of the game. I'll trust Kobe with the ball any time. Look at San Antonio's playoff record since Phil Jackson got to LA. out in 5 this past season, swept in dominant fashion the year before 4-0 and the year before, I don't remember

That 4-0 sweep was dominant, the Spurs looked lost that year. This past year they played them a little better, but not well enough.
