I just bought this game, did the updates, and even though it works, the slow down is really bad.

Mine works fine
The game sucks sh*t in XP, and it seems the code is f*cked up beyond all hope.

Nope. Something is wrong on your end. Don't you think they tested it?

And I thought the slow down in the PS2 version was bad 😕, boy was I wrong. You would think a computer that is many MANY times faster than a PS2 would do better.

It can

Can someone give me a glimps of hope that Rackstar will fix the game?, or should I expect the worst and return it before I cant get my money back?

I'm sure there is something that can be fixed. Do you have antialiasing on? Turning "trails" off also makes it go faster in the game.

🙂

But seriously, you might still have AA turned on. Mine runs fine at 1600x1200x32xQuinqux Antialiasing. Someone said something about a memory leak, but I'm not sure. We just ran it for about 7 hours without restarting it and it never missed a beat.

well..... i experience no slowdown in XP. I'm running GTA3 on 800x600 32bit with a GeForce2 MX, Athlon 1.33 and 256MB SDRAM

BTW, some ppl said that it's because the CD protection. but i'm not sure

Wonderful.. it runs like crap on my Radeon 8500 too.. jesus I spent a lot of money on that card.. must be driver issues.. CANNOT wait till something comes out to fix it..

The comparison between quality is relative, but I will base my definition of quality as very little to no slowdown. That said I have put 3/4 distance, frame limiting, 1024x768x16, and a no-cd crack. It works great for me, and I hardly have a great system

1400 Athlon
32mb GTS pro
256 ram

Works great for me and I have an 8500....
All you guys having troubles with your 8500 check
out this thread
at Rage3d....a lot of peoples different solutions and it might help out.

I don't have any trouble running at 1024 * 768 on a Athlon 1550 /GF3 (Which is pretty fast as a whole).

I think anyone with lower than GF3 class of a vc is usually the one having trouble.

While I'm okay if games need high reqs to play well, companies need to start publishing minimum specs honestly (as in specs to enjoy the game at say 640 full detail @ steady 30 fps)
