You should watch all of it to follow the story. It's pretty funny too. And I love the downhill racing scenes.

The animation sucks, the poor excuse for a story sucks, the character design sucks, the script sucks, and there isn't really anything that seems to great about it, yet for some reason I still love watching it.

Maybe you're talking about Takumi's opponents? I personally found Takumi to be a very likeable character, mostly low profile. He did not even want to race the first time if not for the deal that he struck with his dad. And his friends are pretty funny too, you have to remember that many of them are high school kids and they behave like kids.

yes, i've watched all 3 stages and the extra stage. kinda wished i could have watched 2nd stage in japanese though.

i think you guys are being too hard on the animation quality. honestly, i did think the drawings kinda sucked, but it added character to the different people in the anime. the cg graphics are awesome! the story was what really got me though. every episode ends in a cliff hanger. another funny thing... my friends and i kept saying we wish we could meet someone like mako-chan. she would be the ultimate girlfriend.

i can't wait for the next stages. i don't read the manga, so i don't really know what to expect yet.

yeah! how could Iketani be so stupid, being a what...Lonely Racer?!?!?! WTF!!! I'd pick that girl anytime, and it's not like he's never going to race again if he gets her as his gf. She's probably gonna give him some pointers to be a better street racer too! What the heck was he thinking?!?!?!!?

I'm also waiting for the next stages to come out too. Maybe he's going to be in Ryosuke's dream team and rule all the hills in Japan.

Blazing Beat is good but you should listen to Maybe Tonight and also Killing My Love. Those two songs can really get your adrenalin up and pumping!

I think Initial D rocks ... tooo bad the guy keeps on winning and never lost, except to the lan evo in 2nd stage and it is not even a race.

anyway, the story is the same over and over again. Would love to see those jap race car goes head to head with european race car

Hehe...i'm w/ the majority on this one. Crappy animation and story line...but cool CG race scenes that make you watch the entire series over and over.

I know I'm 16 years late but, the anime was amazing especially for a car lover like me, it was everything that a show needed stage 5 was my favourite stage
