Just wanna see how many people out there do this. i find myself doing this often.
i dont know, i guess i play multiplayer to kick some ass,or on the flipside get my ass kicked. thats why i use M/KB

and single player i use controller because im trying to "enjoy" the game. I see alot of games incorporating the 360 controller.. while some dont. And sometimes i find myself wanting to play online with a controller. MOH is a good example, sometimes i wanna use my controller online, regardless of the super disadvantage id be facing. Im not gonna use the line "sit back on my couch" but i do sit back in my computer chair and lean back with my feet on another chair.
thats just for FPS, some mmo's i wished had it, i know champions online did a goodjob
RTS doesnt work well

cliffs for the wall of jibberish i just posted
using controller in single player and KB/M for multiplayer?

I don't like using controllers for shooters much at all. However, for adventure and racing games, I usually prefer a controller.

In the rare case there's a bad port which has really fun gameplay on the PC, I will use a controller (Halo 2, even though the port was shitty as hell, and SW: Force Unleashed was super fun but a pretty shoddy port too). Also platformers like Assassin's Creed really benefit from a controller.

The closest thing I own to a controller is a joystick, which hasn't been used in years. Since I found the Freespace 2 Source Code Project, and played the hell out of it.

Agree with the above.

I was laid up after getting "fixed" and then again with back surgery. I bought a handful of Gamecube classics. I haven't played a Metroid (or any other Nintendo) game since SNES. I knew Prime was supposed to be great.

I wasn't able to take it for 10 minutes. I don't know how anyone can put up with controllers with FPSs, especially people who know how much better KB/M is...

I was REALLY trying not to be a PC elitist and have an open mind. Consoles have their place, but sheesh....

That said I have seen some youtube videos of people playing Modern Warfare 2 on X360, and PS3 and I could swear to god they were using a keyboard & mouse it was so twitchy. I guess it all just depends on what you're used too. Personally I will always choose the K/M option for FPS when it's available.

If anything, I actually do the opposite. In a game like Modern warfare, where the single player is all about shooting lots of very "light" mobs, meaning they only take 1-2 shots to kill, but theres tons of them, using a controller makes it such a *chore* to do.

Keyboard and mouse is very easy to fly around with, no problem, but its so much work with a controller its not fun. On the other hand, multiplayer (since theres less overall targets), is more bearable with a controller...still prefer a M/KB though.

I would never use a controller to play a FPS on the PC but there are some platforms (PS3 for example) where it is almost impossible not to. I am a better-than-average player on a PC but absolutely SUCK playing BF 1943 on a PS3 (the only game I own). I bought the PS3 to use as a media center/BRD player but it sucks as a media center so I am considering selling it and building an HTPC.

The only FPS where I've used a controller was BioShock. Obviously single player only, and only really because I didn't like the game's mouse acceleration. Since it's a fairly easy SP game, using a controller didn't really hurt.

Other than that, I do sometimes use a controller for PC games, but generally for third person games. Just Cause 2, any racing game. I just got Batman Arkham Asylum on Steam and I might switch to using a controller for it as well, although the M/KB controls are pretty good for a third person game (JC2's M/KB implementation is horrible).

I dunno, I played JC2 and B:AA both with k/m and I didn't have any problem with it.

Part of the problem with JC2 is there's a lot of mouse lag if you have Vsync on. Also, putting the graphics settings too high will increase mouse lag even if the game appears smooth - I had it maxed out and the game looked just fine but it hurt mouse control. I learned about this after I had already played the game for many hours using the controller, and by then I was used to it.

The other thing, though, is that JC2 really doesn't need the precision of a mouse. The game's auto-aim is so strong. Plus it helps to have a controller for flying planes.

ill 2nd this. Alot of the 3rd person games work well with the controller.. almost consider xpadder for Mass effect 1. even though the interface has alot of commands, seems like it could work with a controller

I would have a hard time playing adventure games with a controller. A mouse is pretty much standard for them, and I always had a much harder time playing adventure games on consoles than on the PC. (Like Maniac Mansion or Shadow Gate for example)

However, driving or flying is almost always better with a controller (or even better with an actual joystick). Fighting games (like Street Fighter) are another one where I have a hard time playing without a controller or joystick.

I can't imagine switching between a kb/m and controller between multiplayer and singleplayer. I don't find kb/m combo to be any less relaxing than a controller though.

I think he was referring to 3rd person action games when he said "adventure games." Sometimes they're called "action-adventure." I don't know, action-adventure seems like too broad a category to be descriptive. And I can't imagine using a controller for point-and-click adventure games.

Games like Devil May Cry 4 on PC is much better with a controller than with a keyboard and mouse. A lot of those games never get released for PC (Bayonetta, God of War series, Ninja Gaiden series).
