Who here remembers Green Acres?

Other favourites were My Three Sons with Fred MacMurray and Family Affair with Sebastian Cabot. 🙂

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was a favorite although I watched virtually every show already mentioned here. But it is important to remember that we only got three, maybe four channels then. Was Hogan's Heroes mentioned?

Did anyone watch The Prisoner? Pretty strange show. Only lasted one season.

the prisoner is a sci-fi / cult classic. the only big problem was the end...uuuggg!

Were these shows I'm the black and white era?
Some. The shows being discussed range from mid to late 50s to the very early 70s.

Some of the shows were produced in black & white only. Many straddled the move to color. I recall color TV sets becoming widely available in the mid 60s. Andy Griffith went from B&W to color in later seasons. So did Bewitched. I'm sure there were others.

I've never seen any of this show, but I know the theme song for some reason. :hmm:

Funny thing about Green Acres - my aunt and uncle had a cotton farm in the San Joaquin Valley of California. They were really cheap and had a ramshackle house that looked about as bad as the one in the show and (before they decided they were rich enough to build a nice one) and ancient tractors and such. I was just sure the people in Green Acres must live near them.

OK, you finally dragged me in here. Yes, I was an 80's child and yes Mom made us watch this show...and then Dad liked it...lmao

It was actually one of the funnier old shows without question. Very lively, a great concept, and Zsa Zsa of course...lol

I was more of a Greatest American Hero kind of kid, though. I loved that show. Never got to watch much of it...lol

Wow. I actually hated Green Acres when I was a kid. There was something about the absolutely inescapable frustration that Oliver put up with every single day of his life. Why couldn't they get that damned phone brought in off the pole? Why couldn't they fix that miserable closet door? I think the off-the-wall humor was just way over my head.

I love it now. Eb, Mr. Haney, Hank Kimball, Ralph and Alf. Unforgettable characters.

I agree it was sort of like faulty towers,~

A couple of months back somebody started with the theme song to Green Acres, and we had a laugh remembering all the words.

Let's see how much I can remember...

Green Acres is the place to be
Farm living is the life for me
Land stretching out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside

New York is where I want to stay
I get allergic smelling hay
I just adore a penthouse view
Darling I love you, but give me Park Avenue

Fresh air!
Times square!
Green Acres, we are there!

Elle Mae was my childhood fantasy. I remember one of those first episodes where Granny made a joke about having to sew the buttons back on Ellie Maes shirt because she stretched too hard... ahhh! ... oh wait.. maybe that was the movie.

Ellie Mae had a husky but equally lovely cousin, Jethrine, who was Jethro's twin sister:

Who here remembers Green Acres?

That sitcom had me in stitches when I was young. 😀 And Eva Gabor was such a dish. 🙂

Aww, the good times with The Beverly Hillbillies, Pettycoat Junction, etc...
