These were GREAT times for sure.
BooBerry was a treat to get though.. it was rare that it was stocked in the store.
Quisp though? I ate that by the truck load.

While I was a child of the 80's, I remember waking my mother up at the wee hours of the morning and watching the test pattern until PBS started broadcasting. The TV was too high for my sister or me to reach it. They eventually lowered it just to get more rest.

[edit]Oh and Rocky Road Cereal was the best.

Well it was the 80's for me...but that's the only TV my mom would let us watch when I was little...so I loved Saturday mornings.

Technically I was the 70s and 80s... so you can be in "the club" too. Now go get your blanket and pillow and meet me in the TV room floor! (I know.... that sounds gay).

HA! "TV Room" did anyone call it that?

Do you rememeber when stations signed off for the night? And they played the National Anthem with a picture of the flag waving? THAT is some memories.

saturday morning cartoons are such a disappointment nowadays, even when compared to 10 yrs ago. I feel bad for kids these days.

There is no such thing as "Saturday Morning Cartoons" anymore. Kids have like 10 channels of 24x7 cartoons. They get what they want, whenever they want it. Its an on demand world.... no waiting. No anticipation. Just NOW. It sucks.

Yep - then after the flag they were "off the air" and that staticy "snow" would be on the screen. My parents sometimes fell asleep with the TV on and I would get up in the wee hours to go to the bathroom and see that on the TV. It never used to bother me - until I saw "poltergeist".

"They're heeeeeeeere" (runs into bed and cowers under the covers)

I was in a bowling league in like 4th or 5th grade, it was Saturday morning. So what'd I do? Set the VCR to record my cartoons. :D

LOL that's EXACTLY the scene I was thinking of while I typed that.
Though the clown in the bedroom in Poltergiest scared me more than anything.

Yeah - that clown scene made me wary of ALL my stuffed animals at night ;)

The one scene that freaked me out was when the tree "ate" the boy. I had a tree about that size just outside my bedroom window. The 1st thunderstorm at night after I saw the movie made me run out into the living room.

:shiver:

After I saw that for the first time when I was young, I made my parents take this old little 13" TV from my room, one that I used for video games (iirc).
