Getting my computer back soon, power supply RMA'd, motherboard now equipped with standoffs.

Anyone who plays online? I guess this thread would also be for discussion.

the 'riser'-like screw extensions. they are also grounding points on the motherboard connected to shielded screw holes... preventing the motherboard from shorting out if any of the numerous contact points connected using the backplane(?) as a connection.
In short, they are screw extensions that rise the motherboard off the backplane(?) and thus it is 'standing off' of the standoffs, and not on the bare sheet metal of the case.

I had fun with Supreme Commander but lost interest very quickly.

I would have gotten into Forged Alliance but for some reason the sound doesnt play in it.
Every other game has fine sound, I dont know why an expansion for a functional game would have issues.

I play FA. I've been hooked on SilkRoad Online, lately, but I jump on once or twice a week.

I'm not a big fan of the game either. There are certainly some "Wow! that's awesome" moments but they're few and far between and getting to that point can be incredibly boring. The expansion is a bit better imo, mainly with balance and polish but the game still has some of the *worst* movement AI I've seen in any game and poor unit responsiveness and oversensitive collision detection makes micro a dreadful PITA.

Oh, I like playing online better. The campaign, admittedly, was "turtle and then complete next objective, try to survive as about 300 units attack." But still awesome. It would be better with some more dev support, the last patch was pathetic.

I'm going to write a book for you, because it's hard to find a good general explanation of the game.

It's a MMORPG based around Chinese folk-lore and history, specifically the era surrounding the silk-road between Asia, the middle-east, and Europe. Quite addictive, and it's free to play. You can make micro-transactions for some neat items, but it's totally un-necessary in order to play the game in it's entirety. I love it. It has guilds, unions made up of guilds, fort wars, 4 different magic (force) skill trees and 4 different weapons skill trees. That's only the Chinese though, you can also make a Euro character, and they have mages, fighters, rouges, etc etc (I don't know much about that, I'm addicted to the Chinese characters). They all clash in a huge war based on three major jobs you can choose to play from. Traders, Hunters, and Thieves. You can imagine how that pans out, but basically the Traders fill up transport animals and travel from one capital city to another and make profit selling the goods. Hunters are hired by them to protect the caravan, and they get a cut of the profit. Thieves just try to kill them, steal the drops, and then sell the drops in the thief town for a profit.

www.silkroadonline.net <--- That's their main site. A word of warning, if you're thinking of playing. Don't use bots. They just started a huge campaign against them this week, and they've already banned 1000+ botters from each server. There are over a dozen servers. In addition to that, a lot of "free bots" are actually trojans that steal your silk-road password. And lastly... It's just not nice to bot. :p

Mainly that instead of rebalancing bombers to make them less effective, they changed the bombers to that goofy ass trajectory crap thats easily exploitable by zig zagging units.

Some experimentals were made so expensive that they will never be completed in a normal game.

The Aeon UFO has way too many HP now since they nerfed the fvck out of anti aircraft, building one is a garunteed destroyed base now unless its interecepted early or you keep 40 T3 AAs in each base...

Nerfing the mass fabs fantastically slowed down the pace of the game, and further made the high end experimentals an impossibility in a normal game.
