It seems the 3 door idea was a customer's suggestion. So I was thinking they got a great looking "3 door coupe".. with a nice solid ride why not just better a few things.
Dont get me wrong the new saturns are awesome. Sure I got stuck in Vegas because my friends saturn broke down (short circuit in teh electrical system, the dealer took 3 days to fix it - they had to strip the car to get all the cables off and put a new one in when the new cable arrived) but the dealer took care of us nicely.
My dad has an saturn (1999 SW2) but there are some iditoc thing that I want them to fix. My friends mom has teh 2000/2001 SC2 and its awesome. The SC2 could be the next "Hot Hatch" if they really want to, not that I see ricers heading towards saturns but kids who want a car that has looks that cna decieve would be much grateful if saturn makes a special edition model of the SC2. I know I would be first in line to buy one.
Those of you who have saturns post here on what you like and dislike, and what you would like to have in a special edition saturn SC2.
Personally I would like:
* Better feel gear shift (the feels too light needs some springy feeling to it), short throw would be nice.
* Better gearing ratio's for the special edition (manual) - combined with teh gearbox lever the gearing ratio's are horrid. It seems they are smaller ratio gears, they reach higher RPM's rather fast. Also the clutch is too light, needs some feel in it.
* I would love to have more power to teh 1.9L DOHC, the standard 127 could be bumped to 150+ easily with some factory engine modifications.
* The seat "lumbar" support needs to be little better it needs to have a position in between full open and full close. Also a telecopic steering would be nice (they only have up and down movements).
* My dad's 1999 saturn has a unsighly globby knob known as the control lever, its too short and too hard to use if you want to use it to change lanes etc etc.
* Since this is the special edition I would love to have wider tyres. Not that the standard tyres arent bad, but it would be a tad nicer in looks. But if it would affect handling then I will avoid it.
The special edition should have all power stuff, sun roof, cd + cassette, rear spoiler, ABS + Traction Control standard and options for leather, side airbags, and a few other things.
I wouldnt mind paying in the range of $18K base for a car like that. $20K at the most, that would put it in the range of the Integra RSX, Honda Prelude etc etc. Sure it might lack power, but if they do some nice engine work with a responsive transmission it would do wonders. I dont want to go the turbo way because of turbo lag, but if done nicely it would be really helpful. However I prefer some other manner of increasing power.
Your thoughts....................
