Who here lives on the North Carolina coast?

My family and I are thinking about driving down there and basically chowing down on fresh seafood. Shrimp, crabs, lobsters, clams, oysters, etc.

I live on the NC coast....I don't really pay attention to the seafood prices. Remember though, some seafood is seasonal so you may not get what you want. Like oysters I believe are out of season right now so you may not find them. Shrimp should be abundant as always, along with crab.

Here on the Gulf I always heard that you shouldn't eat oysters in months that end in -ember. I don't know if that holds true for the Atlantic or not.

If you go to the southern NC coast, you can have your choice of seafood buffet restaurants in Calabash. There are some just across the NC/SC line too.

Ohio. It's quite a drive. Actually I'm not even sure if we're going. My mom wants to just stay home for her week long vacation and paint. Gonna drag the rest of the family down with her. Typical.

For really cheap and good seafood you might consider renting a cottage with a kitchen and hitting a seafood market. The food is so much cheaper than in restaurants that you could probably cover the cost of the cottage.
