There are several species that should be okay in AZ zone. However, you might want to give it more water when it is hot. I?m not sure as how hardy they are at fruit bearing in AZ.i'm trying to grow a lychee tree here in AZ.
There are tropical fruit such as guava, sapodilla, jack fruit, sapote, star fruit, pomelo, mango, and durian, that make it in FL. Cover the trunk during a freeze may allow the tree to live in a harsher environment.I'm in a climate in FL that just can't tolerate tropical fruit trees - we usually have a hard freeze once a year that will kill them I would like to grow a mango tree - if I could find a hardy variety, I think I'd give it a go.
