Fall is squash season and our grocery stores are packed with them. Just in time for Thankgiving, which is in 2 weeks.

So many kinds, I am not sure which ones to choose.

I like the Hubbard and Pepper squashes, but might try the Turbin Cap.

Also teh pumpkins are out too, esp. the little sweet pie pumpkins.

Mmmmmmmm.....roasted pumpkin seeds.

If you like squashes, what do you prefer?

My mom has a killer recipe for them. I've been eating them since i was a little wee one. One of my favorite things in the world.

MMM, all winter squash are wonderful. The only summer squash I can stand is zucchini, and that's only if I make zucchini cake (my own recipe, it's great.)

I just made a version of this soup, but I put in a ton of zucchini and cabbage and left out the pasta. Might have been the best soup I've made. Even the wife (the Master Baker) said so.

zucchini be green squash

Chinese people eat quite a bit of it... My friend called it C[/b]hink squash. 😀

EDIT: Not a derogatory usage, thanks.

Hubbard sliced open and in the oven. Serve with butter on the top once mushy.

Zucchini in the summer, fry the bacon first, drain off half the oil, fry zucchini and red onions until soft.

I used to grow zucchini all the time. The variety was Gold Rush Hybrid, a bush variety with bright yellow fruit. Such a wonderfull plant, made me harvest them nearly everyday.

I also have this recipe book for zucchini called The Zucchini Cookbook with over a hundred recpies in it.

Acorn, hubbard, and butternut are some of my favorites. Pumpkin frequently gets used in my zucchini cake recipe instead of zucchini during the winter months if I forget to put up shredded zucchini in the freezer. Mmmm.

Could have sworn this thread asked "who hear likes to laugh?" Damn dyslexia I guess I only see what I want.

squashes are also very good for you too. They are a powerhouse of nutrition loaded with vitamins and minerals and high in fibre too.
