Inspired by this thread of course: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2154258&enterthread=y

I'm one of the 'overworked' ones... well not really overworked, but my work is frustrating to hell (one of those jobs where you depend on people to give you information but those other people are too busy to give it).

The people in the dept next to our don't do squat and they're in the same organization and do the same work, but everything is a breeze for them because they have too many people in the dept and they get to work with USA contacts while we work with foreign contacts >_<

So if you're underwhelmed, let us know what you do!

I'm kind of bored now, that's for sure. I worked hard to become manager of my department (accounting for a finance company) and it was crazy hectic for several months with implementing new systems and training new people, but after a year in the position I am definitely growing a little tired of the day-to-day.

Fortunately, now that everything is up and running smoothly and everyone in my department is cross-trained, it allows me to work a lot less and actually leave on time most days, so I can handle the boredom for the most part as I have added a lot of things to do outside work that hold my interest.

my work is cyclical

part of the year i work 80+ hours a week and part of the year i work very little, other than monitoring stuff

so my cycle is development, test, deploy, monitor then it starts all over each year
during development, i work 80+ hours a week, then it tapers off to where during the monitor portion of the year, if i have done the development well, i don't have anything to fix/do, just be "on standby" if any changes are needed

I seem to be in a situation where I have time to neff in between doing things but am so busy overall that I feel overwhelmed at times.

But I'll go one day of being so busy that I can't hardly take a leak to the next day having hardly anything to do at times.

Sometimes over, sometimes under. I'm an Account Manager handling our IBM, HP, and Xerox. (HP and Xerox going away, to be replaced with Tractor Supply which should be super busy and Timberland)

I think any job has it's ups and downs, but on the whole I feel under challenged on this job. Looking for a new one, will graduate with the masters in May.
