Meaning: theater with necessary equipment to watch movies in digital format.

I know I am :). They are opening the first digital theater in Finland when ep2 premieres, and I'll watch ep2 there.

It means they charge you more for exactly the same. Even buying dehydrated water is more useful.

The tickets I bought were EXACTLY the same price as the tickets for the non-digital showing.

i hear that it doesn't make that much of a difference...
especially if the film is quite new

digital version basically takes out the scatches and dirt/hair marks.

or so i hear.

I'll definitely be seeing it at my local theater (read: viewing on soon-to-be-obsolete 18th-century invention...film). I'd LOVE to see it on digital, but the nearest is over 3 hours away. So I have no current plans to make a 7 hour round-trip drive to see a 2 hour movie, although I may change my mind as some point in the near future, who knows.

digital IS better.

Gonna see it digitally, but just because it's playing digitally here at the Cinerama (or so I hear). Just gotta make sure and buy some tickets early for a show in a week or two.

So youd rather pay the same to watch it on crappy film? Its the exact same price at most theaters. not to mention for lucas to show ep II at your dlp theater it had to be certified by his techs meaning it will probably have a kick@ss sound system too

Actually I remember reading straight from the horses mouth that the film is indeed 1440x880. A bit less than 2 megapixels
EP3 may be shot in 9 megapixels!

EP2 = look great on DVD, not very good on the BIG screens (at least for a film transfer)...i dunno how well 1440x880 will blow up on a big screen.

At any rate, I'll be seeing it in a digital theater (one of the few in canada) :)

If EP2 were showing digitally in a Portland theatre I would see it, but it's not.

oh, big difference:p i'm sure film is not any higher res then 2megapixels.

and if your wrong and i'm right, its only 1 bloody megapixel:p

why couldn't lucas have been brave and shot it in 70mm instead eh? digital doesn't match 35, it doesn't even get close to 70. transfering 70 to 35 yields very good results.. transfering low res digital to film can't be that great. a 70mm print will have enough megapixels to satisfy any future dpl standard. not the current pathetic one.
