Who here is a scrooge and doesn't like the holidays.

I for one don't consider myself scrooge, but I don't like the holidays. I will participate in them to make my family happy (and to get paid extra at work). I feel that holidays are just a reason for family to get together when they should be doing all year long not just a couple a days a year when they deem it necessary. Now don't get me wrong I will give out christmas presents and take some and eat a big christmas meal, but I would rather just stay home instead of having to deal with it all.

So how do you guys feel. Does anybody agree with me or do you just think I am a total jack@ss. Or both 🙂

I don't think your a jackass at all. People have different feelings about the holidays, and I think it's great you do put your feelings aside for your family. I love Christmas, and always have, but I get down thinking about the poor and the hungry that are on the streets, as I am sitting down with my family to a big dinner in a warm house. I always end up feeling guilty about what I have, when so many others have nothing to wake up to and smile about. I donate every year to the Salvation Army, and Toys for Tots, but somehow it never seems to be enough for me. And there are no soup kitchens to volunteer in, as we live in such a small area.

Well my brothers and parents live apart so we have to find a reasonable time to fly together...Xmas is a good time. I find I consume an awful lot of alcohol at Xmas, so I like that, but at the same time I'm scared about my liver come December. I am still only just young enough to still score good gifts out of parents, so its the first time I get a good gift and I'm employed 🙂

LOL Skoorb. Now that you mention this is probably the last year I score good gifts from my mom. And the alcohol consumption is a good idea. I think I will consume some alcohol also. But to tell you the truth I never thought about families living apart and not able to always get together. It is good that you are able to do that. I'll just look forward to my favorite holiday which is New Years. The day before I can drink a lot of beer. And the day of I can drink a lot of beer AND watch football. Woo-hoo can't wait.

I don't care for the Christmas holiday too and I don't put up the tree in my house.

My family are my gifts...not Jesus.

I don't celebrate the holidays. Christmas is for the kids. I will celebrate this summer when I see my grandkids.

The only thing I look forward to with Christmas is my daughters excitement. If it weren't for that I'd be a match for any Scrooge.

"Are there no workhouses? Are there no prisons? If the poor are going to die, they should do it soon and decrease the surplus population."

I don't hate it, I have nothing to do with it, but I firmly believe that non religious people should't celebrate it. Its a matter of principle. If you like Xmas so much, go to a church first or something.

I hate all the hype, all the shopping, all the crowds, and all the materialism. I hate seeing spoiled kids drag their parents around and whine and shout if they don't get what they want. I hate seeing people walk around a shopping mall with arms full of gifts, completely oblivious to the fact that there's so many people out there who may be hoping for food and not presents on Christmas. I hate seeing everyone and their mother use christmas as a time to show how festive they are by using Santa Claus in their marketing campaign. I will admit that there are people out there that do good things and really exemplify what Christmas should be about, but if you ask me too many people have lost direction. Rather than be grateful for what they have, they are looking forward to what they are getting. I'm afraid I've turned into a scrooge.
