Nope. I have a good friend who is a manager at one of the local stores...he tried to get me to come to work for him and in one of the other local stores, but I chose not to do it. Retirement pays better for me.

When the interview is over say, "That was easy!"

Unfortunately, that will ensure you never get the job. I am sure Staples people everywhere are sick of that phrase.

If you have worked retail before and have experience in the position you are looking for (esp in Electronics) you have a good shot. If you have been a manager at another retailer, you have an even better shot.

But really, it depends on the person interviewing you. As Staples Managers, they have a set of criteria to look for, but a lot of it comes down to how you perform in the interview and how well you meet the criteria they are looking for.

I may or may not have an interview... Any tips?

Yeah, I worked a few summers there during college. I still remember filling out the online application in the store (they had a sign-up kiosk) - it asked you how many times a week you smoked marijuana - 4 to 7, 3 to 4, 1 to 2, or 0 days a week. There was no option for "I don't smoke", only "0" :D

My advice is pretty much be straight with the hiring manager. They aren't looking for your take on how great it would be to be a Staples Associate, they want to know if you're going to work and if you're going to be reliable. Most of the jobs are minimum-wage types of things, so they're not expecting world-class talent. They want to make sure you'll actually show up every day, and show up time, not be drunk or high, and do the work required. So just be straight with them and tell them you're reliable and you have a good work ethic (since you're an ATOT poster I'm assuming you are amazing ;)).

It wasn't a bad job. It got boring at times, but it pretty much amounted to keeping the shelves stocked, pointing customers in the right direction, and attempting to sell ridiculous warranties. I ended up quitting not too long after they started forcing us to sell $4.99 warranties on $9.99 thumb drives :D The tech repair end was sort of a mellower Geek Squad type of deal. Sometimes I bounced over to furniture or supplies if they were short. It was a good reliable paycheck when I was a poor student

I worked with a couple guys who both left Staples together due to a horrible boss who wouldn't do any work and blamed everyone else when there was a problem directly attributable to his holing up in an office with his laptop. They left the store's computer sales and repair division high and dry.

Stay away from the Peachtree City location.

I worked there for a couple of years back in 2001-2003. It wasn't a bad job, but it is retail, so you have to deal with the general fucktard public. Since I was good with PC repair, I got to keep to electronics. The managers were 50/50. One was a more retarded clone of the boss from Office Space and the other was a easy going Frankenstein like dude. The latter manager always made work a bit more fun and laid back, which actually ended up getting more done around the store.

the best thing I loved about that place is that I generated so much side work, installing PC's, routers, printers, etc.. Hell, it even led to my current job in IT when the guy that hired me back in 2003 met me there and liked my professionalism and knowledge.
