I can not join any Q3 servers, I can ping fine but when I try to join it sits at "Awaiting challenge" counting to infinity, I can join halflife dm and teamfortress servers just fine, I looked around and found somebody had posted a similiar problem in the software forum and after they private messaged me I found that they use the same isp and router and are having the same problem with Q3

I noticed the trouble after the Q3 master server gave no response repeatedly on sunday night, on monday morning I tried and thats when the "awaiting challenge" thing started happening, happens with any server full or empty and team arena too.

Please help, Q3 was prescribed to me by my psychiatrist, more than a few days off my medicine puts those around me in danger:|

I am convinced it is a problem with either the ISP or the Q3 master server, I was able to play a few games after trying dozens of servers, the only ones I could connect to were Cox/RoadRunner cable servers and DHS servers, DHS is Dynamic Host Something or other, what it is is a service that gives you a "static" IP address so when your IP changes people can still get to your web page or server through the same link, like "Mika.DHS.ORG" no matter what his IP address changes too you will always be able to connect to his web page through that DHS address, it is the same for game servers that use the DHS service, I am certain there is nothing wrong with my setup and that eventually my ISP will figure it out, to play Q3 until then I will have to look for a server that advertises their ISP in the server name, like "Whacko's Q3 Whacko.DHS.ORG" or "NumbNutz Fargo RoadRunner Server"

maby a dns server issue, maby if you tried adding their dns servers into your tcp\ip settings.

control panel->network->right click tcp\ip for nic->properties->dns configuration->enable dns->dns server search order->add dns addresses in here. dont forget to add a hostname (i find that justabout anything works in here). and you can add your isp's domain name if you wish, like roadrunner.com, or home.com, etc...

you can get the dns server ip addresses from going to

start->run->type "winipcfg"->click "more info". dns numbers are at the top, click the button with dots in it to show all of them.
