Who here has a fan for their monitor?

i have a 19" that gets pretty hot in the back/top, esp in hot weather like now. so i bought one of them monitor fans that latch on top and constantly blow, sucking hot air out of it. brings down the temperature quite nicely, and supposedly prolongs monitor life.

sometimes i have my Honeywell blowing at it for even more peace of mind.

am i paranoid? does anyone else have a fan for their monitor?

No, Although it doesn't sound like a bad idea and it can't hurt anything.

my flat panel doesn't get that hot..

I have a fan on top of my 21" monitor. its helps pulling hot air out of it. advice for ya is to get a quiet one they do help a little.

Your monitor needs to operate at a certain temp, no fans needed.

i thought moniters(especially apateur grill's) had to run at a certain temp? my 900NF doesn't get very hot so i'm not worried

flat panels don't get that hot. but i'll tell you this, they should be cooled too.

CRTs should be cooled, but people don't want noise... they get real hot.

BUT it is true that both display systems require a certain temperature to operate.

but during summer, you need some cooling
